This is a wonderful video about Cat House on the Kings, a no-cage, no-kill, lifetime cat sanctuary and adoption center.
I can’t even begin to imagine living with, much less taking care of, 700+ cats. My wife and I currently live with 3 dogs, Makeeta, Moon, and Sherman, and just those three are quite the handful.
We’ve talked about getting a cat several times. Makeeta is known to be OK with cats, Sherman is an unknown, and Moon definitely hates cats. So I guess it’ll be a while longer…
From Make Magazine:
The Wisconsin Online Resource Center has a great collection of interactive animations for learning the ins-and-outs of electronics theory and application. If you’re a visual learner, like myself, you’re likely to find these ‘learning objects’ very helpful. In addition to basic principals of AC/DC, digital/analog, logic gates, op-amps, motors, they cover pneumatics, hydraulics, sensors, and bunches more.
If you’ve found circuits confusing/intimidating in the past, try poking around a bit in the DC section, start with the basics or just click on something that sounds cool
Woohoo – learning is fun!
There has been a lot of work put into this impressive collection of tutorials and resources. I’d recommend this to anyone wanting a basic introduction into any of the topics mentioned above. I particularly enjoyed the hydraulic and pneumatic sections.
Creative Review has a review of Tony Davidson’s new book, One-Track Mind, a book of objects that are reminiscent of breasts.
Feminists may initially shake their heads wearily at the premise for Tony Davidson’s new book One-Track Mind, which bears the subtitle “a revealing insight into the obsessed minds of men”, but should read on as it’s actually surprisingly amusing. The book contains photographs, taken all over the world, of objects that are reminiscent of breasts.
…
Davidson is keen that the book will appeal to everyone. “I hate all these lad’s magazines,” he says, “I really want it to be something that both men and women pick up.” He also wants us to join in on the project, and is working on a website where users can upload their own images. And if all this wasn’t enough to get involved, all proceeds from the book’s sales will go to charity, for breast cancer and prostate cancer research.
A copy of the book can be purchased here. Also see the Save The Ta-ta’s website.
