The other day I had an urge to buy bananas. I enjoy them, but rarely buy them, since they often end up going bad before I get around to eating them. This is mostly because I forget they are there.
But the other day I gave in to my urge, probably because I went grocery shopping while I was hungry (which is never a good idea).
Naturally, the bananas started going bad. Then I had an epiphany. “I should make banana bread!” I said to myself.
So I did, with this recipe.
The bread turned out most excellent, in spite of sticking slightly to the non-stick pan.
If you’re looking for a banana bread recipe, I highly recommend this one.
I was watching one of my favorite TV shows, Good Eats. The episode was titled ‘Pantry Raid VI: Lentils’. One of the recipes was for Lentil Cookies, which sounds really intriguing.
What I knew about lentils, prior to this episode, was zilch. In fact, I think I’ve had lentil soup maybe once in my lifetime. They’re not a popular staple down here in the South, as far as I can tell. And not being a patron of other than a few mainstream ethnic restaurants (primarily Mexican and Italian, with the occasional Waffle House), I don’t recall ever seeing them on a menu.
I think I shall be making those this weekend…
