Routing the wires the gauge cluster

So you have the neutral switch reinstalled in the bike and the wires routed out from behind the sprocket cover. Now what? Well I made my wires long enough to go up to the rubber boot that protects a bunch of electrical connectors on the left side of the bike behind the fairing (circled in red). I then made a longer cable to go from there to the IC Circuit box that is the brain of this little project mounted behind the headlights.

The bridge cable that goes to the IC Circuit is outlined in red. This is one of those things that you are going to have to measure to fit your bike. I made it long enough so I could route it behind the frame and make it look factory. It has a 6 hole plug on one end that plugs into the new wires that you added to the neutral sense switch. The other end has a 9 hole plug. On the 9 hole end wires 1-6 are your gears; connections 7 and 8 are your positive and negative connections to power the IC Circuit. Connection 9 is unused.

The IC Circuit box. I bought a project box from Radio Shack, drilled a hole in each end of it to route the wires through, and mounted the IC Circuit inside with screws. I then filled the whole thing up with regular silicone to protect it from water and vibrations. The schematic for the IC Circuit can be found at the end of this How-To.

It's hard to see but here is the IC Box mounted behind the headlights. I just used black zip ties to mount it to the frame between the headlights.
